Thank you for visiting the website of City Councilor Amaad I. Rivera. It is has been an honor to serve on the City Council. Together we have helped to address some of Springfield’s most pressing issues, from fighting against the proposed biomass plant to stopping foreclosures, our community is coming together for a better Springfield

I proudly represent this city, as Springfield’s residents come from all over the world, work in different fields, speak dozens of languages, rent as well as own, different socioeconomic backgrounds, identify as every racial background, have many faiths, love every gender and is home to every type of family.

As a lifelong resident, I believe that Springfield deserves a leader who understands that during the most difficult times we can overcome our tough challenges utilizing the strength of our community to find opportunities for positive change.

My life experiences, from overcoming homelessness to advocating for more than a decade on the national, state, and local level, has taught me that the toughest obstacles can be overcome by working together as a community to bring about positive, long lasting change. 

I will work to tirelessly ensure that everyone in our community is represented and actively push our government to respond to the needs of the entire community.
